Joan celebrated her win with heartfelt emotion, as she reminisced about the many ways that HHS has touched her life, including the birth of her children at McMaster Children’s Hospital, recent care for her beloved partner at Hamilton General Hospital, previous care for her late father at St. Peter’s Hospital, and current care for her personal cancer journey at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre.
“To me, community is everything,” Joan shares, reflecting on her strong support network of close friends and loved ones, her health care team and fellow cancer warriors. “This is why it’s so important to me to give back - because I know first-hand the impact it has and I want to pay it forward for a brighter future for us all.”
