In addition to the steadfast health care that staff across St. Peter’s Hospital provide on a daily basis, patients also receive personalized and critical support through Therapeutic Recreation.
Focused on “whole person care,” Therapeutic Recreation provides opportunities for creativity and engagement, which help to ensure patients are in the right frame of mind to make the most of their treatment. Of course, this is also a way to provide a little bit of fun.
From creating pieces of art, to visiting with therapy dogs and seated chair yoga, Therapeutic Recreation is focused on participation and engagement for all patients, regardless of skill or ability. Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, Therapeutic Recreation continued across St. Peter’s Hospital, albeit delivered individually or over Zoom. As we continue to emerge from the pandemic, group activities are returning in time – a welcome change for patients and health care teams alike.
