For 26 years, Sara has dedicated her career to health care, spending over two decades with Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS). As a nurse currently working in occupational health at St. Peter's Hospital, Sara has cared for countless patients, always striving to make a difference. Recently, her commitment to giving back took an exciting turn when she became the latest winner of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation’s 50/50 Inspiration Lottery.
Sara has been playing the Inspiration Lottery since it first launched, but winning was never really the goal.

When Sara received the call from the Foundation, informing her of her big win, she was completely stunned. “I was actually speechless,” she recalls. “It was just unbelievable.”
The timing couldn’t have been better. Sara’s winnings brought extra joy to her family during the holiday season. “It was a very heartwarming Christmas. I was able to make the holidays special for my family, which was really nice to be able to do,” she says. She’s setting some money aside but also planning one of her bucket-list trips: a Hawaiian adventure.
For Sara, the lottery is about much more than winning. It’s a way to directly contribute to the hospitals she has called home for much of her career. Having worked at every HHS site during her tenure, Sara knows the critical role donor support plays in enhancing patient care.
