This year, MacKids proudly celebrated Morghan "Mori" Freitag as the 2024 Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Champion. At just 10 years old, Mori has already made a serious impact, representing the hospital with courage and grace while sharing her journey with a chronic illness.

Diagnosed with Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) at age two, Mori has faced countless medical challenges, including infections, hospitalizations, and ongoing treatments. Through it all, she has demonstrated extraordinary resilience, supported by the compassionate care of McMaster Children's Hospital. From life-changing surgeries to emotional and educational support, Mori’s health care team has worked tirelessly to ensure she thrives both physically and emotionally.

As a CMN Champion, Mori has turned her personal experience into a mission to inspire others. She attended CMN’s Children’s Hospital Week in Orlando, advocating for pediatric health care on an international stage. Her story has been featured in campaigns for CMN partners like The Brick and Walmart, where she has visited stores to thank staff for their fundraising efforts. Mori also spoke at high-profile events such as The Brick Gala and Funding Innovation’s 10thAnniversary Summit, expressing her gratitude to these valued partners who make specialized care possible.

In July, Mori launched “Mori’s Mission,” a personal initiative to give back and make a difference. She announced this exciting project on CHCH Morning Live, continuing her role as an advocate for MacKids. Mori exceeded her $10,000 fundraising goal, raising more than $13,000 to the support the hospital that has been such a big part of her life.

Mori’s bravery and determination have touched the hearts of many, proving that children can be powerful agents of change. Her journey reminds us all of the important role MacKids plays in changing kids’ health and, in turn, changing the future. Thank you, Mori, for championing hope and inspiring us all!
