No, lottery ticket purchases are not eligible for charitable tax receipts under Canada Revenue Agency guidelines. While supporting a great cause is very noble, they’re still considered a form of gaming and not a traditional donation for tax purposes.
Ticket purchasers must be at least 18 years old and physically located in Ontario at the time of purchase. This is a legal requirement under the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) regulations governing charitable lotteries.
