Why do we need to raise funds?

Fundraising is an essential part of today’s health care. Our objective is to transform health care by raising funds for equipment, research, education and renovations.

Doesn’t the government provide the funding needed?

People are often surprised to learn just how essential donors are to supporting health care. The government funds hospital salaries and other operating costs and contributes funding for capital projects. However, substantial funding gaps remain — including funding for equipment. Donors fund 100% of the equipment used to diagnose, treat and care for patients — from replacing the most basic necessities to investing in sophisticated new technologies worth millions of dollars. Glance around any patient room or treatment area and you will see the impact of donations on patient care. Donations also support research programs, education and training for Hamilton Health Sciences staff, and funding for renovations or redevelopment. Donors play a very important role in the health care of our community and their contributions impact patients every day. We invite you to read our latest Donor Impact Report here.
