Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre is home to the CIBC Breast Assessment Centre, the most comprehensive assessment facility of its type in the region.
Since its opening in 2014, the Centre has provided rapid access to high quality breast assessment services. It is also home to Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre’s Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP). The recent consolidation of the Chedoke OBSP and the Centre’s extended hours have resulted in approximately 1,000 screening visits and 1,000 assessment visits per month.
“The Centre is recognized as a state-of-the-art facility for breast screening and assessment with highly trained and experienced staff, radiologists, surgeons, pathologists and genetics specialists,” explains Carol Rand, Director, Regional Cancer Programs.
There is an ongoing need for essential equipment that is not funded by the government, including new imaging technology called “3D mammography,” which will improve cancer detection.
