LCBO Supports McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation this Holiday Season

HAMILTON, ON: Starting December 1, the public can help support McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation by making a donation at any of the LCBO stores throughout south-central Ontario. Donation boxes for McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until December 31. As part of LCBO’s annual Giving Back In Our Community campaign, customer service representatives will also invite patrons to add a $2, $5 or $10 donation to their purchase until December 31.

During this period, LCBO’s Giving Back In Our Community campaign raises funds for Ontario’s four regional children’s hospital foundations and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada). These hospital foundations include McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation (Hamilton), SickKids Foundation (Toronto), CHEO Foundation (Ottawa) and Children’s Health Foundation (London).

The funds raised for McMaster Children’s Hospital –  south-central Ontario’s only children’s hospital – will help ensure that the Hospital’s dedicated team of health care professionals has the equipment and other resources needed to provide extraordinary care to thousands of children and their families. A portion of the funds also support two special projects: a Teenage Alcohol Use Awareness Program, which enables staff to better screen, identify and intervene with high-risk youth; and the acquisition of a neuromicroscope, which uses state-of-the-art imaging technology to help guide precision brain surgery.

This year’s donation boxes feature the photograph of five-year-old Everlee, who receives ongoing care at McMaster Children’s Hospital for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

“The care she receives is amazing and I am forever grateful that McMaster Children’s Hospital saved her life,” says Everlee’s mother, Amy.

“Last year’s record-breaking campaign raised more than $590,000 for McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation,” says Pearl Veenema, President and CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation. “LCBO, its employees and customers go above and beyond each year to make this campaign a success. We are forever grateful for their ongoing support of McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation.”

“The Giving Back in our Community campaign makes a positive difference thanks to the amazing generosity of our customers and the passionate commitment of our staff,” says George Soleas, President & CEO, LCBO. “I am incredibly thankful and proud that through this program we are able to make a difference in the lives of the children and families who rely on the services provided by McMaster Children’s Hospital. I am confident that the 2017 campaign will be another record-breaking year.”

McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation thanks the public for its support when shopping at their local LCBO store from December 1 to 31.
