HIP ATTACK Trial

Campaign End Date: April 4, 2015

Do you know someone who has suffered a hip fracture? Odds are, you do. In Canada, over 35,000 adults will suffer a hip fracture every year. Hamilton Health Sciences is campaigning to fund the recruitment of 40 patients into the HIP ATTACK trial; 100% of all fund raised will go directly to helping further our research and helping patients get better, faster.

This is the first and only clinical trial to date examining whether ‘accelerated’ surgery results in better recovery, better outcomes, and less deaths, when compared to current practice. Currently, most people have surgery within 48 hours. However, if accelerated surgery is shown to be better, this could entirely change the way hip fracture patients are treated. We are aiming to enroll 1200 patients over the next 2 years from around the world to better understand this potentially life-saving question.
To do this requires extensive funding, which is why we need you!

Donate today and fund research to improve care for hip fracture patients

Your support and sponsorship will support the HIP ATTACK Trial and has the potential to not only save lives, but increase the quality of life of our loved ones. We will undoubtedly provide evidence to support change in the care of hip fracture patients at Hamilton Health Sciences and across the globe.

Your donation will support the inclusion of a hip fracture patient in the HIP ATTACK Trial at Juravinski or St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Hamilton. Each time we raise $1000.00 we are able to include another patient in the HIP ATTACK Trial and gather information on the effects of delayed surgery.
