Reel Rhapsody raised more than $450,000 for medical research at Hamilton Health Sciences.

While you may have heard that a physician at Juravinski Cancer Centre has tested positive for Covid-19, we want to reassure you that there is no risk to anyone who attended Gala from this case.

On Saturday, March 7, attendees at LIUNA Station revelled in the sights and sounds of iconic 20th-century musicians at Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation’s 2020 gala – Reel Rhapsody, presented by LiUNA. The event was a tremendous success, raising more than $450,000 in gross revenue to support research at Hamilton Health Sciences.

Proceeds from the event will help fund six key projects that represent a cross section of the world-class medical research and innovation taking place at Hamilton Health Sciences, including:

  • ABLE:Play – Enhancing quality of life for people with dementia
  • Increasing access to emotion coaching for parents of suicidal teenagers in crisis
  • Mental Health Transitions – Making it easier for young adults
  • Remote monitoring to improve outcomes in patients undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
  • Urologic diagnostic testing – antibiotics friend or foe?
  • Integrating 3D printing to improve treatment accuracy

Proceeds will also support the New Investigator Fund (NIF) and Early Career Awards (ECA), which enable investigators, under the mentorship of senior staff, to pursue their research interests.

The annual gala is The Foundation’s premier fundraiser and has earned a reputation as the city’s “must attend” black-tie event of the year.

You Can Still Make a Vital Difference!

Donations to the Mental Health Transitions – Making it Easier for Young Adults project are still being accepted. As an added bonus, all donations will be matched* by ArcelorMittal Dofasco.

*Up to $30,000
