We need your support to equip McMaster Children Hospital’s comprehensive range of patient programs with the Essentials for Excellence so the health care teams can continue to provide the very best care.

Donor support is vital to providing quality care for children and adult patients who rely on the specialized care through McMaster Children’s Hospital, Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre and McMaster University Medical Centre. As equipment is not funded by the government, your support can help fund the acquisition of essential equipment to ensure that patients are given the best care when they need it most.

Inpatient Unit Redevelopment: Multi-Year Campaign

Over the last few years, significant redevelopment has taken place at McMaster Children’s Hospital; however, the modernization of our inpatient wards has not been done. Based on new models of care in pediatric treatment, these facilities are in significant need of upgrades. As part of the modernization, priority will be given to increasing the number of private rooms. These units house some of the most acutely ill children that are cared for at the hospital, and the modernization of these spaces will create a warm and healing environment for our patients and their families, as well as an efficient and safe work environment for our staff. The modernization will include upgrading of key areas such as patient rooms, bathrooms, patient lounges and niche care spaces.

Child & Youth Mental Health Inpatient Unit Courtyard

Mental Health Courtyard 1  Metal Health Courtyard 2

The current RBC Children and Youth Mental Health Inpatient Unit is adjacent to a secure and currently unused space. Providing patients with a secure and calming outdoor space would significantly enhance the clinical care that they receive, while allowing them an opportunity to experience the outdoors. This courtyard would be part of the secure unit.

Women’s Reproductive Health

The Women’s Reproductive Health and Newborn Care program attends to more than 7,500 patients annually and includes prenatal testing, high-risk obstetrics and pre-conception counseling for women from throughout the region with certain medical conditions, along with care during their pregnancy. A team of obstetrical specialists provides care for women with complex or underlying conditions, like epilepsy or cardiac disease, which need treatment during pregnancy.

“One Size Does NOT Fit All” – Equipment Needs
