Barry Turk is a homegrown success story who is now giving back to his community by supporting Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation.
After graduating from university, Barry developed an interest in the world of diamonds, gems and precious metals. Determined to build a business out of his passion, he founded Barry’s Jewellers Ltd., which is now celebrating its 30th anniversary.
“At Barry’s we pride ourselves in celebrating our clients’ significant milestones from births and graduations to weddings and anniversaries, creating meaningful, lifetime relationships that we personally cherish,” says Barry. “And now after 30 years of business, we are proud to continue our tradition of giving back to the community by partnering with Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation.”
Barry has always been a strong advocate for practicing corporate social responsibility through giving back and supporting various charitable organizations. One of the reasons he has chosen to support Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation stems from his personal connection to McMaster Children’s Hospital, as he has taken his children to the Emergency Department several times over the years.
“One experience I remember vividly was when my daughter was three years old and had a severe fever,” recalls Barry. “We took her to McMaster Children’s Hospital. The fact that the staff is able to provide specialized care to vulnerable children made my wife and I really secure.”
As part of his commitment to helping transform health care, Barry’s Jewellers Ltd. is contributing 3 per cent of gross profits to Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation when customers make a purchase at its Hamilton (730 Upper James St.) or Burlington (at the Mapleview Centre) stores.
Barry’s Jewellers Ltd. joins a growing list of regional businesses committed to transforming health care in south-central Ontario through the Care4 cause marketing program. To learn more about Care4, visit hamiltonhealth.ca/care4.
